Crystal Palace could be finding themselves on the hunt for a new goalkeeper this summer as current number one Vicente Guaita is being targeted for a return to Spain.

It is being reported by Superdeporte and Estadio Deportivo that Real Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini has the 33-year-old at the top of his list to strengthen the club’s weakened goalkeeping position.

Current duo Dani Martin and Joel Robles have not impressed and Los Verdiblancos are now looking to bring in the Palace stopper as a potential replacement.

Palace would no doubt want to keep Guaita, who has become a consistent performer for the club since wrestling the number one spot from Wayne Hennessey, but it would be hard for them to resist a decent offer from Betis for a player of his age. Guaita is also out of contract in 12 months’ time, giving the Eagles an even more difficult task in keeping the player at Selhurst Park.

Guaita would undoubtedly be tempted by a return to La Liga, where he has previously played with Valencia and Getafe prior to his 2018 switch to London.

If he were to make the move, Palace would almost certainly be on the hunt for a replacement, with only Welsh international Hennessey as a proven alternative at the club.

Crystal Palace will no doubt be hoping they can keep hold of a player who has become an integral part of the first-team at Selhurst Park.
