Crystal Palace’s late swoop for Fedor Chalov has fallen short. According to The Mail’s deadline day blog [16.02], Crystal Palace have failed to beat the deadline and land CSKA Moscow star Chalov.
The Russia international was a late striker target for Roy Hodgson, who wanted to bolster his attack. But the Russian Premier League side are refusing to sell Chalov to Crystal Palace on the English deadline day.
A recent report by The Mirror suggested that five of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ clubs (barring Chelsea, who have a transfer ban) wanted Chalov. CSKA Moscow value Chalov at £20m.

Crystal Palace entered the race and submitted a late bid for the 21-year-old, who has scored 32 goals in 90 games for CSKA Moscow. But the Eagles will not be landing their man before 5 PM.
Chalov’s agent said (quotes via Mail blog): “Fedor is one of the most exciting talents in European football so it is natural that there is a lot interest in him. In particular, one English Premier League club made a substantial offer to buy him now however CSKA did not agree. CSKA’s position is understandable , they have important targets to achieve and Fedor is their most valuable player.”
But the big update on transfer deadline day is the news that Wilfried Zaha is staying at Selhurst Park. Despite wanting to leave, he has not managed to secure an exit and Palace manager Hodgson has confirmed that he will remain with the South London club.
