Crystal Palace are preparing a move for Burnley winger Dwight McNeil should they decide to sell Wilfried Zaha in the January transfer window, according to a report from The Sun.
The Sun reports that the Eagles are expecting to field offers for Zaha when the window opens next month. And it is suggested that they could be open to letting him go should they receive an eye-watering bid.
What should perhaps give Zaha’s admirers some additional optimism is that it appears that Palace have identified their top target should the forward leave Selhurst Park.
According to a report from The Sun, Palace plan to make a bid for McNeil. It is suggested that the Clarets would want more than £20 million for the starlet.
The report notes that the two moves would leave Roy Hodgson’s side with enough in the bank to also strengthen in other positions.
The 20-year-old has been Burnley’s most prolific assist-provider this term. He has contributed four for Sean Dyche’s side, leaving him one away from matching his tally from last season.
Interestingly, while Zaha has scored one more goal than McNeil, it is the latter who has done much better in terms of providing assists.
Nevertheless, McNeil will unquestionably have huge shoes to fill if he does come in as Zaha’s replacement.
