Report: Crystal Palace and Brighton want Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson
Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Brentford are all vying to sign Arsenal starlet, Reiss Nelson, during the summer transfer window.
Nelson has yet to sign a new deal with the Gunners and will see his current contract run out in 2022. And now CBS Sports have claimed that a host of Premier League clubs want the young Gunner.
Reports a few weeks back claimed that Nelson was ignoring Arsenal’s attempts to get him tied down to a new deal. That has, seemingly, left the door open for other teams to make their move.
Palace, who are managed by former Gunner, Patrick Vieira, are said to be wanting to beat Brighton and Brentford to a loan, or even a cut-price permanent deal.
Nelson isn’t the first player from Arsenal who Vieira has put on his shopping list. Eddie Nketiah is also wanted.
While Nelson is struggling for regular minutes under Arteta, it doesn’t mean the Spaniard doesn’t rate him. Far from it, in fact.
The Gunners boss has referred to Nelson as a ‘special player’ back in March of 2020. Of course, Nelson’s career has stalled a bit since then but it’s clear he has talent.
A number of young Gunners face uncertain futures this summer. The likes of Nelson, Nketiah, and other players such as Folarin Balogun and Miguel Azeez, are all waiting to see if they’re in Arteta’s plans.
Palace, it seems, have seen that talent from Nelson and want him as part of their squad. The question now, really, is what the player wants next.
