Tottenham Hotspur’s players are preparing for their crucial Champions League home tie against Frankfurt.

Their Champions League progression hangs in the balance halfway through the group stages.

And according to Football London, Antonio Conte’s players aren’t holding back in training.

Journalist Alasdair Gold was reporting on what drills the Spurs players were taking part in.

One of which was a rondo involving the whole squad, including Dejan Kulusevski who’s back in training.

The session was heating up before Cristian Romero entered the middle of the group.

According to Gold, Romero went in with a ‘two-footed, half-stamp which thankfully was measured perfectly’ on Matt Doherty.

Gold continues to say that Dohertydid not look too impressed’ with Romero’s aggressive lunge.

Romero lunges at Doherty in training

Given Doherty’s recent injury history, he wouldn’t have appreciated his Argentinian teammate jumping at him today.

The £15m signing from Wolves finally broke back into Conte’s side against Brighton at the weekend.

He had a steady game, including one vital block at the end of the match that protected their one-goal lead.

Glenn Hoddle believes he’s in line to start again for Spurs at the weekend against Everton.

The Irish international full-back has plenty of competition at full-back this season.

He’s been forced to play second fiddle to Emerson Royal up until his sending off against Arsenal.

Meanwhile, new signing Djed Spence has hardly had a look in, playing just a couple of minutes against former side Nottingham Forest.

It would be just Doherty’s luck to be injured by a wild Romero lunge in training.

Tottenham fans can at least be encouraging by the intensity the squad is training at between matches right now.

They’ll also be pleased to hear that Romero is capable of controlling such wild tackles with a high level of precision.

It might be best for Romero to leave the two-footed tackles on the training ground when Spurs face Frankfurt on Wednesday.
