Report: Conte's just changed his mind on 'magnificent' Tottenham player
Antonio Conte had intended to keep Tanguy Ndombele for the rest of the season, but has now changed his mind and is ready to let him leave Tottenham Hotspur this month, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Conte has seemingly become the latest Spurs boss to lose faith in the Frenchman. Of course, the midfielder’s future has become a talking point after he incurred the wrath of the Tottenham fans by walking slowly from the field as they chased an equaliser against Morecambe on Sunday.
It has probably come as no surprise that Tottenham are now looking to sell Ndombele. They are also open to loaning him out this month, according to the Daily Mail.
Obviously, there is a big problem for Spurs. He earns £200,000-a-week, and cost the club £65 million when he signed.
And what may not help is Tottenham seemingly went into the window with little intention of letting Ndombele leave.
The Daily Mail reports that Conte was initially inclined to keep the 25-year-old. He apparently felt that he had the talent to make an impact. And he believed that he could get Ndombele to offer more work-rate.
The original plan was to keep Ndombele until the summer at least. However, those plans have now changed and Conte is ready to let him go.
Tottenham hopes of offloading Ndombele not helped by Conte becoming the latest boss to consider admitting defeat
There is absolutely no question that there are not many players in the Premier League with the ability Ndombele has. And when he is at his best, he is simply unplayable.
Jose Mourinho previously labelled him ‘magnificent‘. But Conte has now become the latest Tottenham boss to struggle to work out how to get the best out of Ndombele.
That will not help the club offload him this month. Certainly, Tottenham will surely already be bracing themselves for a major financial hit if they are going to move him on.
