Report: Conte now wants to bring 'phenomenal' £90m striker to Spurs; Mourinho wanted him at N17 too
Tottenham Hotspur are likely to bolster their attacking ranks in the summer transfer window.
While Harry Kane is likely to stay at Spurs, Antonio Conte could do with cover and competition for his star striker.
According to football.london, Tottenham have several high-calibre centre-forwards on their radar.
One of those is a player who Spurs boss Jose Mourinho reportedly wanted when he was at N17.
The player in question is Victor Osimhen, who has enjoyed a sensational season at Napoli.
Osimhen has registered an impressive 18 goals and six assists from 31 Partenopei outings this term.
The 23-year-old also did well in his maiden Napoli campaign, netting 10 times in Serie A.
Prior to his £67.5m switch to Serie A, Osimhen was lighting up Ligue 1 at Lille.
Football.london claims Tottenham wanted the Nigeria international back then, when Mourinho was in charge.
However, Spurs would now have to pay a lot more than they would’ve when he was at Lille.
Il Mattino, another Italian outlet, claimed Arsenal are willing to bid £90m for the player.
“He runs alone at five players and gets through”
Osimhen is one of the best young strikers in the world. He would no doubt improve Tottenham’s front line massively.
Cagliari coach Walter Mazzarri told DAZN last year, via Football Italia: “Osimhen is phenomenal because he runs alone at five players and gets through.
“If you look at genuine scoring opportunities, compared to the number Napoli created lately, I didn’t see that many.
“We intentionally kept a deep defensive line, because if we pushed higher like the other teams, we’d concede four or five like they did with Osimhen able to run into space.”
