Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Villarreal’s Pervis Estupinan in recent weeks.
Although Spurs have already signed Ivan Perisic, there is still speculation around the Ecuador international.
Earlier this month, Marca claimed Tottenham were the main contenders to sign Estupinan.

Now, El Periodico Mediterraneo – via Sport Witness – has repeated claims of Spurs wanting the 24-year-old left-back.
They claim Estupinan is a ‘footballer that (Antonio) Conte has recommended as a possible reinforcement for the Londoners next season’, and his agent has told the Spanish side of this.
In addition, Villarreal apparently already know of Tottenham’s interest in the left-back, described as one of their ‘most valued players’.
The article doesn’t mention how much Estupinan would cost Spurs, but it’s made clear that Villarreal cannot buy if they don’t sell first.
Estupinan joined the La Liga side in 2020 from Watford for an initial £15million, according to Sky Sports.
He had joined Watford in 2016 from LDU Quito but never made a competitive first-team appearance.
Now, Estupinan is a regular for Unai Emery’s side, making 41 appearances last term.
Scouting website Breaking the Lines published an in-depth analysis of the player in October 2020.
They described Estupinan as a played with ‘tireless energy and desire to win every loose ball’ whose ‘technical ability and the final product’ caught the eye.
BTL also lauded his ‘commendable recovery pace and strength’.
Does Conte really need another left-back?
Tottenham’s reported interest in Estupinan is somewhat surprising.
Admittedly, Sergio Reguilon’s future at N17 remains uncertain and he could well leave.
However, Spurs have already snapped up Perisic, while Ryan Sessegnon is another option for Conte.
Maybe the Tottenham manager is hoping to expand his LB options even further.
And Estupitan is a good shout for Spurs if they do want another option there.
After all, he is one of the ‘5 best left-backs in La Liga’, according to Sportskeeda.
