According to a report from CalcioMercato.it, Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte wants to sign Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen in the summer.

The Italian’s furious rant after Spurs’ defeat to Burnley last night has made all the headlines. Conte really did look like he wants out of the club and that worried every Tottenham fan out there.

However, The Athletic revealed today that it’s very unlikely that the Italian will leave Spurs in the coming days. That is excellent news for fans as he’s one manager who could really change the club’s fortunes if he’s backed.

One way to appease Conte would be to listen to his transfer demands. It looks like Daniel Levy has done just that.

Tottenham make contact to sign Andreas Christensen

Chelsea’s Christensen has entered the final few months of his contract and he will be available for free in the summer.

The report claims that Tottenham, after Conte’s ‘precise indication,’ have initiated contacts with the Dane’s agents and Spurs are genuinely interested in signing him once his deal at Stamford Bridge comes to an end.

However, the problem for Spurs is that German giants Bayern Munich, who will lose Niklas Sule on a free transfer in the summer, have also initiated contacts with Christensen’s agents and they will likely be the favourites for his signature if their interest really is concrete.

Christensen, still only 25, is a quality defender.

The Dane has already won the Champions League with Chelsea and Conte knows him very well too having worked with him during his tenure at Stamford Bridge a few years ago.

As a free agent, Christensen would really be a fine signing for Spurs. He knows the Premier League very well and he’d definitely be an upgrade on Davinson Sanchez at the back.

Ex-Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas is also a big fan of the Dane who he claims is ‘very underrated and doesn’t make too much noise because he hardly makes mistakes.’
