Antonio Conte choosing to include Ryan Mason in his coaching staff is a decision that has gone down extremely well amongst the Tottenham Hotspur squad, according to a report from Football London.

Conte is still getting to grips with his new surroundings having been appointed as Nuno Espirito Santo’s successor last week.

He has overseen a victory in the Europa Conference League and a draw in the Premier League clash with Everton on Sunday.

The results and the performances highlighted the work ahead of the Italian. But there is a feeling of optimism amongst Spurs fans given Conte’s track record.

Conte has certainly got off to a good start in winning the players over. Football London reports that the squad have loved the training sessions that he has put on.

Meanwhile, it is suggested that the decision to include Mason in his coaching team has proved a very popular decision.

Football London notes that there are high hopes for the 30-year-old following his stint as interim boss last season.

Ryan Mason appointment leaves door open at Tottenham for obvious successor to emerge if Antonio Conte leaves on a high

In an ideal world, Conte will enjoy a lengthy and successful spell in charge at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Certainly, his career record suggests that Spurs have landed themselves a winner.

But Tottenham would also be wise to keep one eye on what the future holds beyond Conte’s tenure.

So Mason’s appointment looks to be a very smart move.

Should Conte’s tenure go well and they ultimately part ways on a high, Mason is fantastically-placed to potentially take over.

His interim spell hinted that it was too early for the Englishman to be a Premier League manager.

The situation may be different once he has had a chance to work closely with Conte.
