Antonio Conte let out bellows of frustration when Tottenham Hotspur’s moves down the right flank broke down as Emerson Royal endured a mixed afternoon in their win over Wolves on Saturday, according to a report from Football London.

Spurs made it two wins from two at home at the start of the Premier League. But they made hard work of their clash with Bruno Lage’s side. Harry Kane scored the game’s only goal during the second-half. And there were times when Wolves really threatened to cause problems.

However, Tottenham had some really promising moments too. Ivan Perisic was outstanding going forward. And Dejan Kulusevski was extremely bright.

But it was not the perfect display.

Emerson has had a surprise run in the side at the start of this campaign. And he produced a typical Emerson performance.

The Brazilian put in a big shift. But when he got near the final third, his decision-making was really lacking. And it seems that Conte could not hide his frustration at times.

Football London reports that Conte was left annoyed on several occasions when moves down the right broke down. It is noted that the Italian was also angry when Perisic misplaced a pass in the second-half. But it does seem that he was much unhappier about the right side of the pitch.

The good news for Spurs is that Conte has other options at right wing-back. Matt Doherty has barely featured, and Djed Spence is awaiting his debut.

Emerson clearly brings a lot to the side Conte likes. He is reliable when it comes to making a big effort. And defensively, he is sound.

And Tottenham do have more than options to still make an impact in the final third. But Spurs will want to step things up a gear in the weeks ahead.

And with that, Conte has been given plenty of food for thought when it comes to Emerson.
