Report: Club wants to buy 'outstanding' Tottenham forward and Conte's open to selling

Tottenham Hotspur striker Kion Etete is reportedly on the radar of Cardiff City.

According to Wales Online, the Bluebirds are eyeing the Spurs talent on a permanent move.

Etete has made waves in the Tottenham academy and out on loan since joining in 2019.

The 20-year-old has been prolific at youth level for Spurs Under-18s and Under-23s.

Etete spent the first half of last season on loan at Northampton before switching to Cheltenham in January.

He registered six goals and two assists for the Cobblers, and three goals and three assists for the Robins.

Wales Online added that Spurs decided earlier this summer they would be open to selling Etete.

Tottenham opted against bringing the 6ft 5in striker to South Korea on their pre-season tour.

Apparently, Etete has many admirers in the Championship alongside Cardiff.

The Bluebirds currently have just Max Watters, Mark Harris and the injured Isaak Davies among their strikeforce options.

“Outstanding”

Although Etete has been superb for Tottenham at youth level, it looks as though Conte doesn’t see a future for him in the Spurs first team.

However, there’s no doubt the youngster will hit the ground running at a Championship club after shining on loan in the EFL last season.

Etete earned rave reviews while at Northampton and Cheltenham.

One such example came from the Northampton Chronicle, who lauded the striker’s debut against Coventry.

The publication gave him 9.5 out of 10 and claimed: “Debuts do not get much better.

“Outstanding all-round display. Bullied and bossed Coventry’s defence all night long, just too strong and too powerful.

“Scored two very different goals, a brilliant solo effort and a scrappy close-range finish.

“Cobblers will hope this is a sign of things to come.”
