Wolves are totally unaware that Liverpool will bid for Matheus Nunes this summer, with 90 Min reporting that they want him to stay.

Liverpool understandably have one eye on the summer window as they look to address their glaring weaknesses in midfield.

Fabinho has been out of sorts this season, while Jordan Henderson seems to be past his best. Thiago is undoubtedly a top-quality player but at 31, it remains to be seen whether he can provide the high-energy levels Klopp demands from his midfielders.

The Reds fell to a disappointing defeat at Brentford on Monday night and while fans may be eager to see their club address the midfield this month, they are seemingly prioritising signing their top targets after the season is over.

The Telegraph reported on Monday that Liverpool remain interested in Nunes and are lining up a £44 million bid this summer.

Of course, Klopp’s men were heavily linked with the Portuguese midfielder over the summer but he made the switch to Molineux for a club-record fee. And despite recent reports suggesting Liverpool have reignited their interest, Joan Lopetegui’s side see him as part of their long-term vision for the club.

Wolves unaware Liverpool will bid for Nunes

90 Min reports that Wolves are unaware of apparent interest from Liverpool after it’s been suggested that they could make a fresh approach for the 24-year-old.

Lopetegui even shut down the rumours recently, stating that Nunes will remain in the Midlands.

Wolves are apparently unaware that any club has registered their interest to sign Nunes and see him as part of their long-term future.

The midfielder hasn’t enjoyed an ideal start to his career in England after making the switch from Sporting Lisbon over the summer. He’s managed just one assist in 14 appearances and is now working under a new manager just months after arriving at the club.

That being said, he’s certainly put in some decent displays for Wolves and has been a standout performer in a struggling side.

Liverpool need to bring in a midfielder in January and while their interest in Nunes is long-standing, it seems unlikely that Wolves will allow their club-record signing to leave within months of joining.
