Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo have quoted Real Betis President Angel Haro as saying that he expects Tottenham Hotspur will pay the £27million required to sign Giovani Lo Celso permanently in January.
Lo Celso, 23, has struggled for game time since joining Tottenham in the summer. He has managed just 11 appearances in all competitions, starting only two matches for the north Londoners. Lo Celso has netted once.
The Sun claimed at the start of the momth that Spurs have already paid £15million to have Lo Celso on loan for the season, and will have to spend £34million next summer – as part of an obligatory transfer.
But if Spurs want to save some money on Lo Celso, then the report claims they can shelve £7million and land the ex-Paris Saint German star for £27million next month. Haro has been quoted as being of the belief they will spend in January.
Haro said: “I understand Spurs will exercise their option [to buy Lo Celso in January]. If they don’t, they will be taxed a lot more if they exercise their option to sign him in the summer.”

TBR’s view – Lo Celso deserves more time, and at £27m, he is cheap-ish
After a disappointing start to the campaign, where the Argentina international was injured and unable to play – and then a change in manager from Mauricio Pochettino to Jose Mourinho – Lo Celso has not had it is his own way.
He has shown the odd glimpse but it has been very hard for the attacker. In this day and age, for a player with his CV and quality, £42million is a bargain – especially when you have already paid more than a third of it.
