Atalanta now want to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon, but Tutto Atalanta reports that they are frightened of being beaten to the player by their rivals.

Reguilon signed for Spurs back in the summer of 2020 for a fee worth up to £32 million (Sky Sports). The 25-year-old got off to a decent start in North London but has fallen out-of-favour under Antonio Conte.

The Spanish defender has apparently been banished from training under the Italian as the club looks to move him on this summer.

And now Atalanta are showing interest in the player, but they’re worried about their Serie A rivals Inter Milan.

Atalanta want to sign Reguilon

Tutto Atalanta reports that Atalanta are now watching Reguilon and could try to sign him this summer.

But the Spurs man is apparently on the list of Inter Milan’s potential options. And the ‘engagement frightens’ Atalanta due to the ‘salary ceiling’ of the Nerazzurri, according to the Italian outlet.

Reports have suggested that Spurs are closing in on signing Atalanta man Ruslan Malinovskyi. But Tutto Atalanta notes that the two moves are not related.

Despite the worry about Inter Milan’s interest, the Atalanta board really like Reguilon and could move for him this summer.

Reguilon had been linked with a possible move back to his former club Sevilla. But hopes of that switch seemingly ended when the La Liga outfit signed Alex Telles.

Conte clearly doesn’t see the player as part of his plans for this season and the Spaniard has just under two weeks to secure a move away from the club.

The Spain international has fallen down the pecking order in North London after the arrival of Ivan Perisic. And Sessegnon forced his way into the Spurs side over Reguilon at the back end of last season.

It just hasn’t worked out for Reguilon in North London and the player seems likely to leave the club this summer. Conte will be hoping that Atalanta firm up their interest before the window shuts.
