Report: Club holding out for over £10m for Arsenal target, he's 6ft 4in and 'one of the best'
Arsenal are reportedly eyeing Sam Johnstone, “one of the best” goalkeepers around at the moment.
The Gunners aren’t the only ones looking at the West Brom and England stopper, however.
Arsenal’s London rivals, West Ham, reportedly had a bid rejected earlier this week.
The Athletic reports that the West Midlands club is holding out for more than £10million for Johnstone’s signature.
Therefore, reports suggesting Albion are now considering offers over £10million means Arsenal could be looking at a bargain.
Arthur Okonkwo recently penned a long-term contract and earned promotion to the Gunners first-team.
However, he is expected to be third-choice at present.
Arsenal linked with goalkeeper who’s “right up there”
Johnstone enjoyed a superb Premier League campaign for the Baggies despite their relegation.
The 28-year-old made a massive 166 saves last season, the most of any Premier League keeper.
Without Johnstone, they would have probably gone down a lot quicker.
And Gareth Southgate rewarded Johnstone with a spot in the Three Lions squad for Euro 2020.
Sam Allardyce previously said to talkSPORT about him following an impressive 1-1 draw with Liverpool: “He’s one of the best.
“He’s right up there at the right level and he’d already saved more shots than anybody before yesterday.”
Johnstone’s contract expires at the end of next season.
