Report: Club have put their 23-year-old up for sale, but Tottenham now stalling over signing him
90Min reports that the Serie A outfit are willing to do business at a price of around £25 million before the end of the transfer window.
The report says that Tottenham had an interest in the 23-year-old midfielder earlier in the window, during an aggressive summer of recruitment.
But the arrival of Yves Bissouma has seemingly meant that they are stalling over the American now, despite him being available.
Tottenham target McKennie now up for sale
It also seems that Spurs were keen to get their summer transfer business done as early in the transfer window as possible.
That is a clear change of approach from the past, when Daniel Levy was happy to drag deals on to save as much money as possible.
Are Spurs going to bring anyone else in this summer? It perhaps seems unlikely, unless a fantastic opportunity presents itself between now and the deadline.
Antonio Conte wants a strong squad with plenty of competition for places, but he does seem fairly well stocked in central midfield as it stands.
McKennie coming in at an affordable price would add even more depth and quality, but it does not seem like a priority right now.
Tottenham face Roma tomorrow in their final pre-season friendly before the serious stuff gets going next weekend, against Southampton.
