Football London have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have received a boost in their pursuit of Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne – with the Italian side set to complete the signing of a right-sided defender of their own.
Castagne, 24, has been pivotal to Atalanta’s chase for Champions League football in Serie A – which saw the ambitious Italian side finish in a hugely impressive third. They also reached the Champions League quarter-finals.
The seven-time Belgium international has been linked many times with Tottenham over the past two seasons, and is once again a target – as per Football London. He is rated at £18million.
Standard Liege full-back Mergim Vojvoda has confirmed, as per Football Italia, that he is on his way to Atalanta in a £5million deal: “I agreed terms with them and I now expect the two clubs to work out the details together.”
That, according to Football London, means Castagne is ‘set’ to leave his current side and hands Tottenham a boost in the race to land the impressive right-sided defender – who has had a hand in five goals during 33 games last term.

TBR’s view – Castagne would be an ideal right-back signing
At just £18million, he is pretty cheap, too. Daniel Levy has already pulled off a masterstroke in basically landing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for just £3million and Kyle Walker-Peters this summer.
Selling Serge Aurier for a reported £22million and bringing Castagne to the club with a profit would once again be stunning business. If such a move occurs, the critics of the Spurs chairman will soon dissipate.
