Football has a habit of going full circle and at Tottenham Hotspur that appears to be the case this summer.
Gareth Bale is on his way back to Tottenham on loan for the season and, according to The Sun, that deal could be extended into 2021-22 should this season be a success for the Welshman.
The report also details the fact Jose Mourinho now wants to trim down his squad, naming several players Tottenham are willing to let go.
Those include previously known expendables such as Paulo Gazzaniga, Juan Foyth, and Ryan Sessegnon.

However, another name now on the list is that of Erik Lamela. Tottenham are reportedly open to the idea of selling the Argentine this summer to help lighten the first-team squad and bring in some much-needed funds.
Which would be a full circle turnaround, considering the fact Lamela was signed to replace Bale in the first place.
After the Welshman made his world-record move to Real Madrid in 2013, Tottenham raided Roma in their own club-record deal to sign Lamela for £30 million, as reported by The Guardian.
A left-footed wideman, he was tasked with taking over from Bale in the Tottenham first-team but injuries have dampened his impact in North London, even if he has become a firm favourite among some of the Tottenham fanbase.
But now, with Bale back in town, it appears Tottenham are ready to dispense with the man once given the hefty task of replacing their flying Welsh wizard.
