Tottenham reportedly want to sign a new centre-forward in the remainder of the summer transfer window, but have the obstacle that they must sell a player first in order to do so.

According to the Evening Standard, manager Jose Mourinho is targeting a new striker as he looks to strengthen a key position of the pitch.

It is claimed that Bournemouth’s Joshua King and Benfica’s Darwin Nunez have both been offered to the club.

The report explains that Spurs need to recoup some many from sales before any new faces arrive and offloading defender Serge Aurier is seen as the best chance of that, but so far Bayer Leverkusen have not matched their £23million valuation.

Meanwhile, the Evening Standard adds the defender Juan Foyth and goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga are two more players that have been transfer listed by them.

TBR’s View:

Spurs currently have talisman as their only out-and-out striker in the squad and it seems vital that the north London club bring in some kind of back-up during the remainder of the window.

Mourinho can turn to versatile attackers such as Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura to spearhead the attack if needed, but having a recognised forward that can compete alongside Kane would give the squad such a better balance.

Kane may be the outstanding individual that so often delivers for Spurs, but the physical demands placed on him at times only risk an injury so the club need to try sell someone in order to bring in a new striker.
