Report claims Tottenham are prepared to meet Callum Wilson’s wage demands

Tottenham Hotspur are willing to pay Callum Wilson’s wage demands to bring the Bournemouth striker to North London, according to reports.

The Express is reporting that the England international’s £75,000-a-week salary was too much for Newcastle United, who have subsequently dropped their interest in his signature.

However, Spurs are willing to pay Wilson in order to finally bring in a viable alternative to Harry Kane in attack.

But Tottenham fans should not expect a deal to be done any time soon. Whilst Spurs are ready to pay his wages, they are currently not in a position to make another transfer splurge.

The report claims that the deals to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, and the impending Matt Doherty transfer, will see Tottenham needing to sell players before any more transfer incomings can be done.

Wilson is expected to leave Bournemouth this summer following the Cherries relegation to the Championship. Despite a poor 2019-20 campaign by his high standards, Wilson’s previous contributions in the Premier League have seemingly not been forgotten and Spurs are keen on a deal.

But he will not come cheap. A recent report from the Daily Mail suggested Bournemouth would not be budging from their current £30 million valuation of the 28-year-old.

It seems Tottenham will still face an uphill battle in pushing for Wilson’s signature this summer, even if they are seemingly willing to pay the wages others are not.
