Sam Greenwood will not be heading out on loan from Leeds United this month, according to a report.

It has previously been rumoured that the talented youngster could head to the Championship for some regular first-team football in January.

Last month it was reported by Wales Online that Cardiff City were one of the interested parties in the Leeds under-23 star.

However, a new report from Wales Online suggests that is not the case.

They report that it is understood Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has personally insisted that Greenwood does not leave as he is not far away from first-team action at Elland Road.

The same report also made it clear that Greenwood is not, and perhaps never was, on the Bluebirds’ radar.

Leeds United fans would certainly be excited to see Greenwood in action.

He arrived from Arsenal in the summer in a deal which, according to the Daily Mail, could eventually set Leeds back around £3 million.

The attacker made immediate strides with the under-23s, winning the PL2 player of the month award back in October.

An injury picked up on international duty with England’s youngsters delayed his progression somewhat but there fans at Elland Road who would love to see Greenwood get his Premier League chance in 2021.

The 18-year-old has scored six goals in eight games for Leeds’ youngsters and has operated both as a centre-forward and central midfielder – two areas where Leeds are somewhat light.

So perhaps it won’t be a surprise if Greenwood does get his chance for Leeds soon. The upcoming FA Cup tie with Crawley Town might just be the perfect opportunity.
