Report claims Roma are ready to reduce £35m asking price for Cengiz Under, Everton in ‘pole position’

Everton could face a battle to sign Roma winger Cengiz Under this summer, according to reports.

Last month, Gazzetta Di Parma reported that Everton are leading the chase for the player who has failed to convince Roma of his long-term future since signing a new deal in August.

According to Turkish Football that deal represented a significant increase on his previous contract, seeing Under move from a salary of £19,000-a-week to £48,000-a-week. That will continue to increase year-on-year and with Roma unconvinced regarding Under’s progress, they are now ready to sell.

Now, CalcioMercato is reporting on Under’s options for the next transfer window, with Everton firmly involved.

They claim that Under is now available for less than Roma’s previous €40 million (£35m) asking price and that Everton are in ‘pole position’. Moise Kean could even be offered the other way to reduce the cost of any deal.

However, Sevilla, Napoli, and AC Milan are also keen and Everton will have a fight on their hands if they are to pursue a move for the Turkish international.

Everton could certainly use improvements in the wide areas, with Under’s ability from the right or left-hand side a major selling point.

However, given the interest from several other clubs, it appears Everton may have to pay the highest price necessary to secure Under’s services.
