Reports in Spain are suggesting a young talent’s performance against Rangers has sparked interest in his services from Old Firm rivals Celtic.
Celtic have recently been linked with a move for the Atletico Madrid talent Rodrigo Riquelme by the press in Spain. MARCA reported a month ago that Celtic were keen, along with Rangers, Hoffenheim, and teams in the Netherlands.
The 20-year-old, who has appeared for Diego Simeone’s first-team, is out of contract in the summer and is considering his options.

Now, a new report from AS, is suggesting that Ajax, PSV, Real Betis, Valencia and rivals Real Madrid are all keen. Celtic’s name is again mentioned and the report claims when the Bhoys first took notice of the player.
It was reportedly after he stood out in a UEFA Youth League game against Rangers. The winger was in scintillating form as Atletico dispatched Rangers in unceremonious fashion. Riquelme provided three assists in a 4-0 win at Firhill and it is now clear that Celtic caught wind of the performance. The report claims Celtic were the last team to join the party, but that should not be a sign of any potential detriment in any approach.
Celtic fans will no doubt love the fact that Riquelme has already put their fierce rivals to the sword. Now, the hope will be to bring him to Parkhead and, hopefully, get one over the old foe once again.
