Report claims potential Marseille ‘abandonment’ of Celtic star pursuit

It appears Celtic are open to the exit of midfielder Olivier Ntcham this summer. As reported by The Scottish Sun earlier this summer, French side Marseille are keen on a potential £12 million deal for the player.

Ntcham himself confirmed he would be interested in a move to Marseille. As reported by the Daily Record he made it clear he was open to leaving Celtic this summer.

“Yes, it’s very interesting. Marseille are a big club.

“A departure from Celtic is possible.”

Celtic will no doubt be open to the move as well. Ntcham’s form dipped over the past 12 months and selling him now could help Celtic raise significant funds for potential incomings.

However, it appears Marseille’s interest could be at an end.

As reported by Le Foot Sur 7, Marseille are considering a ‘possible abandonment’ of interest in the 23-year-old.

The reasons why are clear. The report suggests Marseille’s failure to secure an exit for Kevin Strootman or Morgan Sanson means the French side are in no financial position to sign Ntcham.

Celtic will, of course, be hopeful of other interested parties making a move for Ntcham. It is clear his heart is no longer at Parkhead and moving him on makes perfect sense.

But Marseille look like being out of the running.
