Southampton attacker Sofiane Boufal has been linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer. Now, reports in France are suggesting that Nice are set to make a move for the player.

It was first reported in July that the French side were keen on Southampton’s exciting playmaker.

Now, L’Equipe is reporting that Nice’s recent takeover has them in a position to make a move for the Southampton player. The report claims that an offer of €10 million (£9.1m) is to be made by the club in the coming days.

As reported by The Independent, Southampton broke their club transfer record to buy Boufal from Lille for a fee in the region of £16 million back in August 2016. But despite the occasional moments of brilliance, he struggled to settle in English football and a bust-up with former manager Mark Hughes was the final straw.

He was allowed to join La Liga side Celta Vigo last summer where he had a mixed spell. He came on in Southampton’s first game of the season against Burnley, perhaps signifying a second chance at St Mary’s.

However, he was not even in the matchday squad as Southampton took on Liverpool at the weekend and it does seem an exit could be on the cards.
