Newcastle United will supposedly receive a fresh £50 million transfer budget if they stave off relegation.

That’s according to The Mirror, who claim player sales can help further boost that figure.

Currently, a large number of players are out of contract before the summer of 2021.

The likes Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie and Martin Dubravka are yet to hold talks with the club about fresh terms.

Federico Fernandez, Ki Sung-Yeung and Karl Darlow are into their final years and could be handed new deals to stop them leaving on the cheap or for nothing.

Fans are unlikely to be too impressed with a £50 million budget given they were able to spend more than that this summer on Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Emil Krafth.

That said, those deals were offset by the £30 million sale of Ayoze Perez to Leciester City.

It’s important for the club to get their players tied down to longer contracts, if anything to ensure their market value is protected.

£50 million in this day and age is not a lot of money to work with, so sales could be hugely important for the club in order to aid with getting better quality players into the club.
