Aston Villa outcast would reportedly take a 50 percent wage cut in order to rejoin former club Hajduk Split this summer, according to reports.
It was reported earlier this week by 24sata that the Croatian side are interested in bringing their former goalkeeper back to the club from Villa Park this summer.
Kalinic came through the youth system at Hajduk, eventually playing over 100 league games for the club and earning his place in the Croatian national team whilst playing in Dalmatia.
He left for Gent in 2016 and after two years in Belgium joined Aston Villa in last season’s January transfer window for a fee reportedly (talkSPORT) worth around £7 million.

But he suffered from poor form and then a concussion, losing his place to Jed Steer in Aston Villa’s promotion push.
He is now an outcast at Aston Villa, behind Steer, Orjan Nyland and summer signing Tom Heaton in the pecking order. With the European Championships coming up in the summer, Kalinic wants regular football to try and win back his number one spot for his nation.
With that in mind he is willing to half his current paycheck, but would still be an expensive acquisition for the Croatian side.
TBR’s View
Hopefully, Aston Villa can find a way to get this deal done.
Clearly, the Croatian has no future at the club and the fact they failed to move him on in the summer must have been something of a disappointment in itself.
For all parties concerned, hopefully, this is a deal that can be done in the winter.
