Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is hoping to leave the club in the next transfer window to gain regular playing time, according to the Liverpool ECHO.
However, Liverpool fans can relax regarding his long-term future, as the Irishman is only interested in leaving on loan to gain some valuable experience.
The report claims that the 21-year-old from Cork was wanted by Preston North End on loan in January but Liverpool decided he was needed at Anfield.
The report also states that Kelleher could leave on loan, but only if Liverpool receive assurances that the stopper will be the first-choice option wherever he ends up.
It is also claimed that Liverpool want a youngster to be their third-choice option, so they can learn from Alisson and Adrian at Melwood and become a future first-team option. The returning Kamil Grabara, who has been on loan at Huddersfield Town, could fulfill that role should Liverpool decide to send Kelleher out.
The young Irishman has a fan in Jurgen Klopp, who was quoted by the Daily Star in September as calling him a ‘wonderful keeper’.
Indeed, the 6ft 2ins star has featured on numerous occasions for the Liverpool first-team this season, playing in four games, conceding an alarming 10 goals, five against Arsenal and the same amount against Aston Villa.
But Liverpool are clearly of the belief that Kelleher has talent and will be strict on his next location should he indeed head out on loan.
