Report claims Liverpool star Thiago and Wolves’ Adama Traore are wanted by Barcelona

A report from Spanish outlet El Gol Digital has claimed that Barcelona are interested in signing both Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara and Adama Traore of Wolves.

Thiago has endured a tough first season at Anfield. There have definitely been glimpses of his quality since his arrival on Merseyside.

However, he appears to have suffered from the raft of injuries happening around him. And this report has now made quite a dramatic claim about his future.

According to El Gol Digital, Barca are keen to bring the 29-year-old back to the Nou Camp. And he is not the only ex-player the Catalan giants are monitoring.

The report also names Adama as a target. Like Thiago, it has been an interesting season for the Spain international.

Remarkably, he is still awaiting his first goal or assist in the Premier League this term. Admittedly, Wolves would not have scored their recent winner against Leeds without him.

El Gol Digital reports that Barcelona need to raise funds by selling players first. But they note that the Wolves man’s asking price has dropped.

According to Sport in January, Wolves want at least £34 million (€40 million) for the 25-year-old. That report also suggested that the Reds were one of the sides keen on signing the wide-man.

TBR View: Hard to see Thiago leave after one year

There is plenty of time left before the summer window opens. So it is difficult to make a confident prediction about what may happen to certain players.

However, surely there is little chance that Liverpool will show any interest in letting Thiago leave.

Jurgen Klopp would be forgiven for already bracing himself for one key midfielder’s departure. As noted by the Liverpool Echo, Gini Wijnaldum is out of contract in the summer.

So showing any willingness to consider the idea of letting Thiago go as well would be a huge surprise.
