A report from the Daily Mail has suggested that Barry Douglas is willing to listen to offers concerning a potential move from Leeds United this summer, amid interest from Celtic.
The Mail reports that Neil Lennon wants to sign the left-back this summer with doubts surrounding Boli Bolingoli’s Parkhead future.
Douglas has endured a mixed time since moving to Elland Road in 2018. When he has been fit and available, he has impressed. However, he has spent times out on the sidelines with injury and struggled to push ahead of Stuart Dallas in the pecking order this past season.
His form towards the latter stages of the last campaign provided a reminder of how good Douglas can be. And those performances appear to have alerted Celtic who are now reportedly desperate to offload Bolingoli.
Interestingly, the Mail claims that Douglas is willing to listen to offers. It is also suggested that there remains the possibility that the full-back could sign a new contract with Leeds.
TBR View: Big surprise if Douglas has any interest in leaving
Many football fans were left stunned when Wolves decided to sell Douglas to Leeds two years ago. He had played a crucial role as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men sealed promotion to the top flight.
Having missed out on that chance in the Premier League, it would be a huge shock if the 30-year-old was willing to leave Leeds this summer.
Of course, he may have concerns over how much he may play next season. But it is difficult to see Douglas pushing for a move away – even if Celtic do confirm their interest with a bid.
