Report claims Kemar Roofe is not interested in Anderlecht exit amid Rangers interest

Rangers have reportedly been getting their plans together should Steven Gerrard need a replacement for Ibrox star Alfredo Morelos in Glasgow.

Rangers remain fearful of the Colombian leaving Ibrox this summer, with big-money interest from Qatar in his services.

One of the players Rangers could reportedly look to bring to Ibrox is Kemar Roofe.

Rangers were linked with a move to bring the forward to Glasgow last summer. Now, according to Voetbal24, the Ibrox side are looking at Roofe again as a potential replacement for Morelos.

Last summer, Rangers missed out on the player, who ended up joining Anderlecht from Leeds United. Now, it seems Rangers could again make a move, with the Scottish side valuing him at £5.4 million.

But it seems any approach would end fruitless. As reported by The Herald, Roofe is happy at the Belgian side after one year, despite the club’s failure to qualify for next season’s Europa League.

Which might not be the worst news for Rangers. Whilst Roofe is a potent goalscorer, his knack for picking up niggling injuries has plagued him again this season.

Rangers need a striker like Morelos, who is ready to play week in and week out, without the fear of a month-long absence here and there.

Hopefully, Roofe can stay fit for the entirety of the 2020-21 season and shine in Belgium. Rangers will, however, need to look elsewhere if a replacement is needed for Morelos.
