Report claims Jose Mourinho could throw a spanner in Arsenal’s reported works, player wants £125k a week

CalcioMercato say Jose Mourinho wants to raid his old side Chelsea for Tammy Abraham – amid reports Arsenal want the striker. The England international is surplus to requirements at Chelsea, who are closing in on Romelu Lukaku. Mourinho has joined Arsenal in the race for Abraham.

Abraham, 23, ended up being fourth choice behind Olivier Giroud, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner towards the end of last season. A move is needed for Abraham. Arsenal have been strongly linked and a recent report from the Express say the Gunners are willing to meet his £125k-a-week demands.

But Arsenal might not be Abraham’s only option. A new report from CM says Roma are Mourinho are keen on luring Abraham to Italian football. Roma are about to lose Edin Dzeko as Inter look to replace Romelu Lukaku. Abraham could see a loop of players swap clubs this summer.

Roma will struggle to pay £40m for Arsenal target Abraham

Roma struggled to meet Arsenal’s asking price for Granit Xhaka and it has seen the Swiss midfielder remain at The Emirates. So, for Roma to want Abraham – who has a price tag that is double Xhaka’s – seems a step too far for Mourinho. But a loan-to-buy deal might make more sense for Roma.

The report suggests Roma could pursue a two-year loan deal for Abraham with an obligation. Whether Chelsea are favourable of a move, is up for discussion. Given they are signing Lukaku for almost £100million, surely they would rather the cash up front – favouring Arsenal. Time will tell.
