Nice are monitoring Illan Meslier, with Media Foot in France reporting that the goalkeeper could leave Leeds United this summer.

Meslier has been an outstanding performer throughout his time at Elland Road. He was thrown into the side just as the Championship promotion race was heating up. And his form saw him hold onto his spot once Kiko Casilla was available again following his ban.

He has been the undisputed number one ever since. The 22-year-old has already made 88 appearances for the Whites in all competitions.

His form came under a little more scrutiny last season. And some supporters probably felt that Leeds did suffer a little for not having a more experienced backup to allow Meslier to move out of the firing line.

However, his ceiling is remarkably high. And with that, Leeds will be prepared for interest in the youngster in the years to come.

Certainly, Nice are keen on the former Lorient man. Media Foot reports that new boss Lucien Favre is an admirer of the goalkeeper. And it is suggested that he could leave Elland Road in this window.

It would be a shock if Meslier left Leeds this summer. He did struggle more last season. But so did almost every single player in the squad. And he is a youngster playing at the highest level on a consistent basis. Jesse Marsch previously said that he is as good as any young goalkeeper he has ever seen. He described his potential as ‘massive’.

Leeds have already lost Kalvin Phillips this summer. And Raphinha may well follow him out the door. So you would imagine that the Whites are not going to let him go in this window.

Certainly, Nice are going to have to make a huge offer to tempt Leeds into a sale.
