Report claims Everton striker rejected deadline day switch to Galatasaray
Everton striker Cenk Tosun rejected a move to Galatasaray, according to a report from Haberturk.
The Turkish side were on the hunt for two new strikers this summer after allowing both Kostas Mitroglou and Mbaye Diagne to depart the club. They secured the eye-catching capture of Radamel Falcao from AS Monaco but also had their eyes on Everton’s fringe striker.
Haberturk reports that Everton hierarchy and manager Marco Silva all agreed to let Tosun join the club. However, the player rejected the move. It is suggested that Tosun did not want to play for a direct rival of former team Besiktas.
Galatasaray moved on, signing Romanian striker Florin Andone from Brighton and Hove Albion instead.
Of all the players that Everton were seemingly trying to push out of the door, Tosun was the one fans were happy to see stick around.
The Turkish striker gives Everton a different option in attack with his aerial ability and physical prowess.
Indeed, Tosun demonstrated his potential impact ability in Everton’s win over Lincoln City in the EFL Cup and can hopefully play a key role for the club in 2019-20.
