Everton have reportedly been tracking the Marseille talent Boubacar Kamara, according to Le Foot-Sur 7.
The 19-year-old defender has become one of French football’s more promising talents and can also operate in a defensive midfield role.
The report claims that Everton have been tracking his progress for some time, along with Manchester United and Barcelona.
The report of Everton’s interest comes amid Kamara’s new contract at the Stade Velodrome.
He has agreed to an extension until the summer of 2022. However, as reported by Foot01, the teenager made it clear he does not know exactly what the future will hold for him.
“My extension has been long, hard at times. In the end, I extended. I have always had a good relationship with (director of football) Andoni Zubizarreta and the President (Jacques-Henri Eyraud). They knew I wanted to stay at OM.
“It was long, in the end, it’s done. It’s for two years, but it can change. In football, you never know. I do not know what will happen at the end of the season, in two years. I’m proud to be here, it’s an honor. I am very happy.”
As for Everton, news of interest in Kamara will certainly please fans.
The Toffees are still looking short at centre-back for the rest of the 2019-20 season. Now whilst it would have been easier for director of football Marcel Brands to make a move for the player if his contract was expiring in the summer, Kamara will surely still be on Everton’s radar next summer.
This is a situation Everton fans should keep an eye on, as Kamara could prove to be a coup of a signing for the Toffees.
