Report claims Everton deal for Philippe Coutinho is more realistic than previously thought

Everton’s transfer interest in former Liverpool hero Philippe Coutinho should not be taken lightly, according to a report from Bleacher Report.

The report claims that the Barcelona outcast wants to return to England after a disappointing stint in Catalonia and failing to impress at loan club Bayern Munich.

Tottenham and Chelsea are said to be keen on a loan, but so are Everton. The report then adds that an Everton move ‘is more feasible than you’d imagine’.

Everton’s links to Coutinho this summer have largely been considered somewhat fantastical among many fans.

His Anfield heritage, previous £142 million price-tag (Guardian) and status as one of Europe’s most prestigious attacking midfielders had many suggesting Coutinho was a cut above Everton’s standard.

However, many said the same thing about Carlo Ancelotti when he left Napoli and the Italian is now sitting in the Goodison Park dugout.

Everton have fine relations with Barcelona, from whom they have previously signed Lucas Digne, Yerry Mina, and Andre Gomes. Gomes arrived on loan initially and it appears any deal for Coutinho would be in a similar capacity.

But whilst many are laughing off Everton’s apparent interest in Coutinho, it seems a more likely scenario then previously imagined.
