Report claims Everton are keen on Barcelona talent Gerard Gonzalez
Everton have had a fairly decent record when it comes to bringing in players from Barcelona in recent times. Andre Gomes, Yerry Mina, and Lucas Digne have all switched the Nou Camp for Goodison Park over the past couple of seasons.
Now, it seems as though Everton are yet again set to raid the Blaugrana.
Settle down Everton fans, Lionel Messi is not about to have the Gwladys Street End in raptures. On this occasion, Everton are instead looking at one of Barcelona’s younger talents.
As reported by SPORT, the Toffees are big fans of Barcelona’s talented 16-year-old defender Gerard Gonzalez.
The teenager, who only turned 16 in February, is currently a key member of the Barcelona youth set-up and Spain’s under-16 team under the management of Julen Guerrero.
In February, Gonzalez played in a 3-1 loss to England’s under-16s at St George’s Park. The left-footed defender would undoubtedly be a player for the future and would represent Everton’s desire to continue improving the youth team at Finch Farm.
Gonzalez, according to the print edition of SPORT as relayed by Sport Witness, would be a free transfer at present as he is yet to sign a professional deal with Barcelona.
Everton fans will undoubtedly hope that the club can secure the signature of this talented young Spaniard.
