TeamTalk have claimed that West Ham United defender Issa Diop wants to leave the Hammers this summer, with the report claiming Manchester United, Everton and Tottenham are all likely to be keen – while Arsenal have also been linked.
Diop, 23, has impressed since moving to east London from Toulouse in the summer of 2018. Indeed, the six-time France Under-21 international is now regarded as one of the first names on the team sheet – and has clocked up 64 appearances.
The defender has also become renowned as somewhat of a goalscoring defender, having netted three times this season – scoring against Everton, Brighton and Liverpool. Now, the £60,000-a-week (TeamTalk) defender is keen on leaving West Ham.
The report states that Diop has informed West Ham of his plans, and that Spurs, United and Everton are all interested in signing Diop. The Mirror claimed in March that Arsenal were also keen on luring Diop across London.
TBR’s view – Which team needs Diop the most?
Arsenal’s problems at centre-back have been well-documented, with Sokratis, David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi all struggling for form. William Saliba is due to return this summer, but Rob Holding and Calum Chambers have struggled with injury.
Manchester United are well stocked at centre-back, and could even look to keep Chris Smalling. Tottenham could do with a centre-half, especially with Jan Vertonghen leaving. Everton failed to replace the loss of Kurt Zouma last summer.
But certainly, The Gunners need Diop the most, and Mikel Arteta would go a long way to sorting his defence out if he signs Diop.
