Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti could consider his future at the club if transfer activity does not improve in the weeks to come, according to a report.
The Daily Star claims that the promise of significant recruitment was a key reason behind the Italian’s shock decision to become the new Everton boss back in December.
However, Everton are in a financial bind with several high-earners they cannot shift due to the current global health crisis and its impact on football’s finances.

Therefore, recruitment has become more difficult for Everton, who have now missed out on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Gabriel Magalhães. The former has joined Tottenham Hotspur whilst the latter, who had previously passed an Everton medical, is now set to join Premier League rivals Arsenal from Lille.
If Everton cannot improve their recruitment and bring in new players of the quality Ancelotti desires by October, then the Italian will reportedly consider his future at Goodison Park.
It would be a huge blow to Everton, with Ancelotti currently the most valuable asset the club have after a difficult 2019-20 campaign.
Everton’s need for new players was made painfully clear in the first 10 minutes of their pre-season friendly with League One side Blackpool yesterday. The Seasiders raced into a 3-0 lead after just 11 minutes. A Dominic Calvert-Lewin and a brace of set-pieces from Gylfi Sigurdsson saved Everton embarrassment in a 3-3 draw.
