Aston Villa’s hopes of signing former loanee Pepe Reina may have taken a blow as La Liga side Valencia consider a move for the Spanish stopper.
It was reported earlier this month by CalcioMercato that Aston Villa have offered Reina a two-year deal worth £35,000-a-week to join the club permanently from AC Milan.
Reina arrived at Aston Villa in January to provide cover for the injured Tom Heaton at Villa Park and it appears that Dean Smith would like to bring him to Bodymoor Heath permanently.
However, Valencia are going through a major revamp and Reina is a part of it.
Los Che are open to potentially selling current number one Jasper Cillessen to former club Ajax, should the Dutch side lose Andre Onana this summer.
It is being reported by Onda Cero, as relayed by Deporte Valenciano, that new Valencia boss Javi Gracia has chosen the experienced stopper as the perfect replacement for the Dutchman and that negotiations are already advanced for his potential signature.

There is no report on transfer fees or contract length but it will no doubt be difficult for Aston Villa to fight off Valencia with the promise of first-team football back in his homeland on offer for Reina.
Aston Villa do still have Tom Heaton on their books, even if he is currently injured, and will therefore not be overly disappointed should Reina decide to head elsewhere.
