Report claims Arsenal-linked creative spark could leave Lyon ‘quickly’

French newspaper L’Equipe are reporting that Lyon could try and offload Arsenal target Houssem Aouar once the January transfer window opens – with emphasis placed on a quick sale.

The playmaker was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer window and with the Gunners still keen on Aouar the latest reports could be a welcome boost.

Arsenal made a bid of £35 million for the 22-year-old during the previous transfer window but Lyon are thought to be holding out for their £55 million valuation (Express).

Aouar was recently suspended by the Ligue 1 outfit for refusing to take part in a warm-down session following a recent fixture.

The report claims that Lyon could now look to move him on in January and are likely to want a quick sale.

A situation like that would certainly suit all parties. Arsenal would get their hands on the creative spark they desperately need, whilst Lyon would give themselves plenty of time to sign a replacement.

Aouar has scored twice and registered one assist this season but his form during 2019/20 was a joy to behold.

He bagged nine goals and claimed 10 assists playing in a number of positions for the French giants.

With Juventus also sniffing around the Frenchman it makes sense for Arsenal to try and move quickly.

The Gunners have struggled badly for a creative spark this season and that needs addressing during January.

Arteta spent wisely in the summer but it would appear he failed to sign the one player that his team really needs.

If a playmaker isn’t added during the transfer window it could prove to be a long season for the Gunners.

The ideal player could be Aouar and the Gunners can’t afford to let a seemingly golden opportunity pass them by.
