Arsenal have looked to move ahead of Tottenham in the race to sign Sander Berge, with French outlet Jeunes Footeux reporting that the Gunners have now made a bid for the midfielder.

Berge looks set to be on the move this summer. The report claims that he is keen to leave Sheffield United following their relegation to the Championship.

And there are a host of sides keen to offer him the chance to remain in the top flight. Jeunes Footeux reports that both Spurs and Liverpool want the Norwegian.

However, the report suggests that Arsenal have made the first move. It is claimed that the Gunners have bid just short of £17.2 million (€20 million) for Berge.

But Jeunes Footeux suggests that the Blades want around £25.8 million (€30 million) for the youngster – who became the club’s record signing when he arrived in 2020 (via BBC Sport).

It will certainly encourage Arsenal fans if they have indeed made an approach for Berge. He has not enjoyed the best season, but he does look to be extremely promising talent.

It says a lot that Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs reportedly want him.

And while the Gunners still have some way to go before they meet the Blades’ reported asking price, the money already on the table surely hints that Arsenal are unlikely to be put off by falling short.
