Report claims Arsenal are still ready to hijack Everton’s Gabriel move

Arsenal remain interested in a possible deal for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes, according to a report from Le10 Sport.

The Brazilian defender looked set to be joining Everton this summer until the global health crisis crippled football across the continent.

As reported by The Guardian, Everton had seemingly concluded a deal to bring the 22-year-old to Goodison Park as Carlo Ancelotti’s first signing in a £30 million deal.

That report came in mid-April and no announcement has since been made with a host of other teams seemingly getting in on the act.

Arsenal were one of those clubs and L10S seem to suggest that they remain keen.

The report claims that Everton are struggling to finalise any deal with Lille for the player amid a debate over his transfer fee.

Arsenal could now be willing to swoop, with the club looking for an ideal centre-back partner for incoming newbie William Saliba.

A recent report from Goal suggested that Lille are adamant there will be no reconsideration of a €30 million (£27m) valuation the French side has placed on the 6ft 3ins defensive strongman.

That is the fee Arsenal would seemingly have to pay for the player, and the fee Everton are currently struggling to agree with Lille.

With reports suggesting David Luiz could now be on his way out of Arsenal, it seems the Gunners might have their eyes on another Brazilian to take his place at the heart of defence.
