In the summer, Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly considering a move for Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard.
That was according to a report from the Daily Star, who claim that the England international is wanted by his former boss Jose Mourinho, in a deal that would undoubtedly increase speculation regarding a potential exit for Dele Alli.
The report claims that United would be looking for a fee in the region of £30 million and that Lingard was reportedly left ‘seething’ after missing out on United’s opening fixture of the Premier League season, a disappointing 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace at home.
But the trail soon went cold and, despite Mourinho once getting the best out of the player, Tottenham fans were fairly happy.

However, a new report from The Mirror has now highlighted that Lingard could be on his way out of Old Trafford in January. The report claims that Lingard has now split from superagent Mino Raiola and is looking for a winter move.
Tottenham could be the perfect location.
Mourinho is a huge fan of the player. As reported by the Daily Mail in June 2018, Mourinho described him as the ‘naughty but funny’ member of his playing staff, who he considered integral to his team, especially in the season United finished second in the Premier League.
The fact Lingard has dropped Raiola as his agent will also help matters. The Tottenham boss and the Italian agent have often been portrayed as at loggerheads in the press and the same could be said about Raiola and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
So whilst it might not be a popular option among the Tottenham fanbase, Lingard now looks available and would surely be willing.
A potential replacement for Dele Alli? Stranger things have happened.
