Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Hearts teenager Aaron Hickey made a decision on his future on Sunday evening, after a ‘great offer’ from Celtic and interest from Bayern Munich, Bologna and Lyon.
Hickey, who only turned 18 in June, has already clocked up 34 senior appearances for Hearts who have since been relegated to the second tier of Scottish football. He has entered the final year of his contract at Tynecastle.
Strongly linked with Celtic, the Scotland Under-19 international is said to be the subject of a ‘great offer’ from Neil Lennon’s side. But the Hoops are not alone in their pursuit of Hickey.
Hickey, who almost joined Milan in January, has been impressed with Bayern’s facilities but acknowledges that a move to Bologna is likely to see him get game time. Lyon are keen, and he is said to have made a decision on Sunday.
TransferMarkt claim Hickey is represented by PLG, who also look after Ryan Christie.
TBR’s view – Celtic need Hickey to become their new Tierney
With plenty of experience under his belt already, Hickey is showing the kind of potential that now-Arsenal star Tierney began to show during his early days on the left side of Celtic’s defence.
Greg Taylor is solid but Boli Bolingoli is expected to leave Parkhead. Bringing in a new left-back is key, so why not one that has a chance of replicating the kind of form Tierney showed in green and white?
