Aston Villa winger Bertrand Traore has returned from international duty to undergo surgery on a groin injury, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Traore played for Burkina Faso against Ivory Coast earlier this month. But it seems that it was decided that the time was right to address a problem he has had for several months.

According to Foot Mercato, Traore came back to Birmingham to undergo surgery. It was claimed that he has been dealing with the problem since January.
It is not expected to keep the 25-year-old out for long. According to Foot Mercato, the minor procedure was a success.

And in fact, he may only need to take a week before he is back training.
Aston Villa fans may be excited about Bertrand Traore if longstanding injury issue is addressed
It bodes well for next season if Bertrand Traore ended this past campaign while not fully fit.
He was outstanding at times this past season. He actually ended the term with seven goals and six assists in the Premier League.
That included two brilliant displays to end the year. In fact, in the clash with Spurs, Chris Coleman – who was providing co-commentary – insisted that he has the talent to play for Real Madrid.
If he was carrying a knock, Villa fans can surely be excited about what may be to come from the attacker in the coming months.
He took a little while to find his feet following his switch to Villa Park. But he has certainly shown major glimpses of what he can do.
Villa are building a scary attack ahead of next season. Both Traore and Watkins will be looking to kick on in their second years with the club.
Jack Grealish will be hoping to enjoy a little more luck with injuries. And of course, Emi Buendia is now through the door.
