Report: CL club wants to sign £25m Spurs player Conte’s keen on selling, but there’s a problem

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Sergio Reguilon appears to be surplus to Antonio Conte’s requirements at Spurs.

The Tottenham manager left the Spaniard out of Spurs’ squad for their pre-season tour of South Korea.

Reguilon was one of the more surprising omissions from the Tottenham contingent picked by Conte.

It was the clearest indication yet from the manager that he will enforce change on this Tottenham side.

In addition, Conte has signed Ivan Perisic, while Ryan Sessegnon has been playing more regularly this year.

This would suggest Reguilon may have slipped to third in the left wing-back pecking order at N17.

The £25million man has been linked with a number of clubs in recent months, including Sevilla and Juventus.

Now, a report from ABC de Sevilla – via Sport Witness – has provided an update regarding the Spanish side’s interest.

Apparently, Sevilla remain keen on Reguilon as they seek to bolster their left-back ranks.

However, he is neither cheap nor easy to sign, even if they have put him on their list of ‘discarded players’.

In addition to having a high price tag, he ‘has a high wage bill’ that complicates things for Sevilla.

Paying a ‘very high figure’ for the player would also ‘break with the idea’ of revaluation that the club’s sporting directors have put in place in terms of signings.

Namely, Reguilon would not fit Sevilla’s idea of signing players who can be sold on for a big profit down the line.

Therefore, Monchi is now reportedly looking at other options for the Champions League club, including Celta Vigo’s Javi Galan.

Tottenham should aim to spark bidding war for Reguilon – TBR View

While Conte is seemingly happy to offload Reguilon, the finances involved have to be right for Tottenham.

In theory, the Spurs hierarchy could sit down with their Sevilla counterparts and come to a compromise.

But at the same time, Reguilon is a talented young player with a lot of resale value.

And if the likes of Juventus are after him, it shows there’s certainly interest.

As the transfer window edges closer to deadline day, more clubs will surely declare an interest and perhaps make offers.

Tottenham should certainly look to spark a bidding war for Reguilon and try to get as much as they can for him.
