Report: Christophe Galtier receives three offers in 'last few hours', including one from Tottenham Hotspur

TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid and Lazio have all tabled offers in the ‘last few hours’ to hire French manager Christophe Galtier. The 54-year-old is in demand having taken Ligue 1 side Lille to the French title, pipping Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain.

Galtier is becoming renowned in France as one of their best managers in top-tier football – but on the European stage, he is somewhat of an unknown. He spent eight successful seasons in charge of St. Etienne, clocking up 361 games in charge. He then joined Lille in 2017.

During his time at Lille, he clocked up 152 games – surpassing 500 in management and won 78 of his matches, more than half. But it was his stunning 2020-21 campaign that has attracted the big boys. He guided Lille to first, stopping PSG’s run of three consecutive titles.

However, he has now left Lille. It was believed he was going to join Nice, but the report claims such a move has hit a stumbling block due to a compensation figure. His current deal ends in 2022. Now, TMW say Lazio, Real Madrid and Spurs have all approached Galtier in the recent hours.

MY EURO 2020 PREDICTIONS

Galtier has similar traits to Pochettino, good for Tottenham?

The Frenchman has only managed two clubs but has a wealth of experience in his home country – with a half-century of games under his belt. Like Pochettino before moving to Spurs, he had never managed a big club – and was a manager that was seeing his stock continually rise, rather than fall.

Jose Mourinho’s stock was collapsing when he joined Spurs – after struggling at Manchester United. Again, like Pochettino, Galtier allows his players to play with freedom. He is a loyal manager, spending plenty of time at each of his clubs.

Galtier – a three-time Ligue 1 Manager of the Year, including the 2020-21 accolade – could be the next Pochettino.
