Report: Chelsea will move to sign 'lightening' fast Tottenham target, he's tipped to be as good as Haaland
Chelsea are preparing to gazump Tottenham and make a concrete offer for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. A report by Corriere dello Sport claims that the Blues are willing to go gung-ho to sign the 22-year-old in January.
Graham Potter could definitely do with some reinforcements. Chelsea’s form hasn’t been particularly brilliant since he arrived and they currently sit in a lowly eight-place in the Premier League.
Vlahovic moved to Juventus in January 2022. He cost the Turin-based giants £66 million and the Old Lady are naturally hoping to recoup most of that back should they cash in next month.
Tottenham have been linked with Vlahovic previously. He was touted with a possible move to North London, with Spurs and Arsenal keen prior to him swapping Fiorentina for Juventus.
Now, it would appear that Chelsea are going to move. They look like being the latest to lyre him to London and don’t seem to be put off by his huge valuation.
Vlahovic has bags of potential. At 22, he’s already found the net 57 times during 123 appearances in Serie A; with 16 of those coming in the famous black and white stripes of Juventus.
Aleksandar Mitrovic plays with Vlahovic for Serbia. He told TuttoJuve in October that he felt the player would have similar numbers to Erling Haaland should he sign for a Premier League club.
Micah Richards also praised the player in December 2021. He called him ‘lightning’ quick during an interview with BBC Five Live, as transcribed by The Independent.
Chelsea preparing move for Tottenham target Vlahovic
This would be a huge signing if Chelsea can get a deal over the line. As for Tottenham, it remains to be seen whether the Serbian talisman would consider signing for Antonio Conte.
Vlahovic certainly knows where the net is. He’s a fantastic striker and his all-action style should see the supporters at Stamford Bridge quickly warm to him.
Chelsea desperately need to start climbing the league. The Champions League places look a long way off right now and some more firepower could help them bridge the gap.
Tottenham would also welcome a new striker. It’s fair to say, however, that with Harry Kane at the club, their need for a new talisman isn’t quite as urgent.
